It would be an excellent book to share with siblings and parents of Down's children. Would love a similar book about life as seen through Cody's eyes or the eyes of any Down's child. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from United Cerebral Palsy of Sacramento and Northern California -- For the Love of Family : Told from the perspective of a 6-year-old boy whose little brother has Down syndrome, Dianne Flynn’s book, “My Brother’s Ups and Downs”, about her grandsons highlights the beauty of unconditional familial love. This book is a wonderful tool to help children understand how to interact with people with developmental disabilities. The family photos throughout the book also brought to mind some of my own favorite family memories of my siblings. The photos and story show that a sibling with a disability is still a sibling with all the ups and downs that come along with that. Anyone with a brother or sister knows that sometimes they make you want to rip your own hair out, but ultimately they are still the people who love and support you the most and vice versa. The stories could be about any siblings. Seen through Jeremy’s eyes, I would have had no idea Cody has Down syndrome. They are just two boys being boys. The wonderful photos add an extra tug at the heart as one reads the charming anecdotes from everyday life. Finally, this book does not preach about birth choices, it just shows the happiness of a family grateful for this gift from God, no matter how he arrived into their lucky family!
